Potential Applications
NTIS is not deployed as a product or validated for these uses. The following are areas where its provenance-preserving architecture could be useful if supported by appropriate domain methods, governance, and evaluation.
Analytic tradecraft traceability
An analyst or reviewer could inspect how source material, premises, and conclusions were connected, rather than reviewing a conclusion alone.
Source-to-judgment provenance
Teams could preserve a legible trail from exact source spans through explicit interpretive and reasoning decisions to a judgment.
Reasoning change across versions
Accepted reasoning states could be compared to show structural changes, while preserving missing or non-comparable cases rather than forcing a conclusion.
Human/AI reasoning provenance
Human review decisions and machine-produced candidate artifacts could remain distinct, making the contribution and limits of each visible.
Decision provenance and institutional continuity
Structured records could support continuity when a decision, its sources, or its stated rationale must be revisited by another person or at a later time.
Red-team and review support
Explicit source and reasoning structure could give reviewers a focused basis for challenging attribution, assumptions, relations, or changes in a record.
These are potential applications, not claims of operational pilots, customers, validated institutional-conformance scoring, or cognitive-risk detection.
